How to Create and Manage Mailing Lists in cPanel

Mailing lists allow you to use a single address to send mail to multiple email addresses. To add a new mailing list, perform the following steps:

1. Login to cPanel.

2. Navigate to the Email section and click on Mailing Lists icon.

3. Enter the name of the list name in the field “List Name”. Please note:You cannot have spaces in the name. Then select the domain you want to use and enter and confirm password in the appropriate fields.

4. Select access type. Access type are either Private or Public.
Private – Private archives exist for this mailing list. The administrator must approve subscriptions, and the Mailman interface does not display the mailing list.
Public – Public archives exist for this mailing list. The subscriptions are open and the Mailman interface displays the list.

5. Click on the “Add” button.

To manage the mail lists, come back to the same page and click on any of the functions.

From the image above, “Delete” will remove the mailing list, “Change Password” will change the mailing list password without the need to fill in the old one, “Manage” will take you to the mailing list admin dashboard and “Delegation” will assign administrative priviliges to available users(email accounts in your cpanel).

The image below shows how you can perform the delegation function.(Select the account, push it to the administrator list then save.)

Please note: Do not delegate mailing list administration to virtual accounts that you do not trust. Delegation will give this virtual user a means by which they could take over the cPanel account.

You can also add many subscribers manually and all at one go. Click the “manage’ function to go to the mailing list admin dashboard and click on “Membership Management“.

Then click on “Mass Subscription“.

Enter your addresses or upload a file then submit your changes.
